Election Commission seizes unaccounted cash, drugs, etc worth 253 crores

New Delhi: With elections just around the corner, the Election Commission has seized unaccounted cash, gold, illicit drugs worth over one thousand 253 crores rupees.

Ever since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect, the EC has collected more than 253 crores rupees with Gujarat topping the list amounting to over Rs 506 crores, NewsonAir reports.

The second to top the list is Tamil Nadu has collected around 153 crores, Andhra Pradesh over 142 crores and UP collected 119 crore rupees.

In an official statement released, the Commission said, it has collected over 250 crore rupees in all from all over the country with Drugs and narcotics worth 675 crore rupees, precious metals worth 183 crore rupees, liquor worth over 122 crore rupees and freebies worth 22 crore rupees were also seized.
