Keeping the MLC election code in view, the State Government has stalled, for the time-being, the distribution of regularization pattas to the beneficiaries in Telangana. The Government, which ought to take up the regularization drive from February 20 had to oblige the elections code.
As per notification issued by the Election Commission, nominations will be accepted from February 19 to 26. After scrutiny and withdrawals, if any, the elections will be conducted on March 16 and results will be declared on March 19. The poll code will be effective till March 23. Though the TRS government has asked all districts’ administrations in this regard, it reportedly asked them to put on hold until the code is complete.
It is likely that the State government will press in ministers, MPs, MLAs and other people’s representatives to participate in the regularization drive in March last week. Those in occupation of 125 sq yards of government land are awaiting regularization and had to wait another month for the same. (NSS)
