Elect candidates who fulfill the interests of the community: Wajahat Habibullah

Hyderabad: Siasat Urdu Daily organized a meeting of intellectuals at Golden Jubilee Hall on 8th September. Ex-Chief Information Commissioner and former Chairman of National Commission for Minorities, Mr. Wajahat Habibullah was the Chief Guest. He advised the community to elect candidates who fulfill the interest of the community. It has been observed that after a candidate is elected, he gives preference to his personal interests setting aside the welfare of the community.

Present in the meeting were Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily, Mr. Iftekhar Shareef, Major Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin Qadri and others.

Continuing his address, Mr. Wajahat Habibullah told that in Kerala, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, Muslims expressed their solidarity as a result of which the governments in those states were forced to look after the interest of the community.

The governments know that if the interests of the Muslims are overlooked, it could result in political revolution. The situation in Telangana and Andhra seems to be different. The Muslim community should elect only such candidates who work for the educational development and eradication of economic backwardness of Muslim community.

He further told that it is the democratic right of the citizen to ask how much allocation was made in the budget for his community and how much was spent. He lamented that these days Right to Information Act is being made defunct. It is a weapon through which the irregularities of administration could be exposed.

He also told that one can raise questions about the manifesto of the political parties.

He pointed out that the unity of the Muslims and depressed classes can bring about political revolution. He cited the examples of the recently held elections in UP and Bihar and said that the unity of the Muslims and the OBCs defeated the ruling class.
