Elderly woman killed in Kota

Kota:A 70-year-old woman has been killed by some unidentified assailants while trying to steal some valuables from her home in Talwandi area here, police said today.

The elderly woman was killed yesterday but the accused have not been traced so far, police said, adding that a probe is already underway.

The dead body of the woman identified as Prem Lata Singhvi was recovered from the bedroom of her house in Talwandi area of the city, a police official said.

It was handed over to the family members for postmortem, he added.

The old woman was living alone in her house also shared by tenants who were living in other part of the building.

The investigation has revealed that unidentified assailants had a thorough search of the rooms for valuables and when the woman woke up, they chocked her to death, the police official said, adding the dead body bore marks but not the typical injury marks.

The accused also drove away the car parked outside the house.

The CCTV footage shows two youths driving away the car from the house, he said.

A coaching student, living in the house with other tenants has been missing since the murder took place, the police official said.

The valuables, looted from the house could not be estimated so far as the family members are yet to be questioned, he said.

The efforts are underway to nab the accused, he said, adding that no one has been arrested so far.
