Elderly woman found murdered at home

A 55-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence in Brindavan Colony of Nizampet on Friday evening.

According to KPHB Police, the deceased, Annapurna, has been strangulated to death using a cloth by some unidentified persons. Four gold bangles, one gold chain and Rs 12,000 cash was also missing from her home. This led the police to suspect that it was a murder for gain.

Preliminary enquiries by the police revealed that Annapurna used to live alone at her residence in Brindavan Colony. Her husband Padmanabham died two years ago and she had a daughter, Aruna Kumari, who works as software professional. Aruna Kumari alerted the neighbours after she found that her mother was not picking up her calls. The neighbours were shocked to see old woman lying murdered and immediately informed the local police.

A case of murder has been registered and further investigations are on. (INN)
