A 55-year-old woman committed suicide after her daughter-in-law rebuked her for suspecting her fidelity.
According to police, the deceased, S Maniamma, had set herself ablaze on Monday at her residence in Kothur of Mahaburnagar district on Monday. She was rushed to the Osmania General Hospital where she died a few hours after admission. Police investigation revealed that Maniamma suspected that her daughter-in-law Alivelu was having an illicit affair with one Yadaiah of the same locality. On learning about it, Yadaiah visited their house on Monday and both Alivelu and Yadaiah had a heated argument with Maniamma on the issue.
Felt humiliated, Maniamma resorted to the extreme step. On a complaint lodged by her son Shekhar, police registered a case for abetment of suicide against Alivelu and Yadaiah and began investigations. (INN)
