Elderly parents can evict their abusive children from property: Delhi HC

NEW DELHI: Giving a big relief for senior citizens, the Delhi High Court has held that elderly parents can evict their abusive children from their an ancestral property or from a self-bought property.

According to a report by the Indian Express, the woman who never shared a healthy relationship with her in-laws allegedly ill-treated, harasses and subjected them to physical violence.

The court rejected the appeal filed by the woman so that elderly abuse doesn’t go unpunished.

The bench said, “It is high time that the senior citizens are allowed to live in peace and tranquillity. The orders passed by the maintenance tribunal and the single judge cannot be faulted.”

According to the case, the woman’s husband had not been staying at his parent’s house for the last several months.
