Elderly man murdered by son-in-law over property dispute

New Delhi: An 80-yr-old elderly man was strangled to death by his son-in-law over a property dispute on Sunday morning in Delhi’s Bindapur locality.

The victim, Indra Singh was strangled to death over a dispute of his property which was worth around 70-80 lakhs.

According to the Police, Singh wanted to transfer his house to his grandson, Hemanth- his son’s son but his son-in-law’s son’s name was Hemanth too which led to the dispute.

A month ago, Singh approached Police for filing complaint against his son-in-law, daughter and Hemant for tricking him to transfer the property to his daughter’s son while he wanted to his son’s son to inherit his house.

“Singh trusted Vijender and asked him to get the transfer documents made. Vijender allegedly conned him to get the property registered in his own son’s name. When Singh figured it out, he approached us and we booked Vijender and his family for cheating,” said the police officer.

Vijender Singh, 54-yr-old son-in- law was arrested in the afternoon following his confession to the murder in the afternoon, nearly seven hours later the alleged murder. On his surrender, he revealed that he killed his Singh when he was alone at his around 8.30 am. After hours of thinking over the incident, Vijender decided to surrender himself to Police.

Vijender was previously arrested by the Police following the complaint by Singh and was jailed for 26 days, where supposedly planned his father-in law’s murder to take his revenge for sending Vijender to jail said the Police.

Southwest DCP Surender Kumar said a case been arrested against the accused and the arrest has been made. The accuse has been charged with Section 302 (murder) of IPC said another police officer, Times of India reported.
