New Delhi: An elderly man was arrested for allegedly killing his daughter-in-law by slitting her throat over an argument over fixing a bulb at their residence in a central Delhi area, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Monday night when the accused, identified as Bhagatram,65, had an argument with the victim, Neeraj,33, over fixing a bulb.
“Bhagatram lost his temper after Neeraj removed the bulb that was initially fixed by him. Both had arguments and when Bhagatram was having dinner with his wife, Neeraj insisted on joining them, but he did not allow.
“The two again exchanged heated words following which Bhagatram killed her after sliting her throat,” a senior police officer said.
“Bhagatram later informed the local police about the crime. He was arrested from his residence,” he said.
“During interrogation, Bhagatram told police that Neeraj often argued with him and his wife over trivial issues. He told the police that when he was having dinner, Neeraj again fought with him. This time she was carrying a knife,” the officer said.
“Bhagatram tried to snatch the knife from her, but in the scuffle, he ended up slitting her throat,” he added.
“Neeraj was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead,” he said.
