An elderly couple was Sunday found battered to death inside their house here, police said.
The bodies of Harish Chandra Agarwal and his wife Lalita Devi, both 70 years old, were found around noon in their house in Kammu Tola area. Police said a five kg weight was used to hit the two on their heads.
Agarwal was a wholesale cloth merchant. His two sons are settled in Surat, Gujarat.
Jewellery, cash and other valuables were missing from the house. A dog squad searched the house but found no clues.
Police said the couple had recently hired a domestic help, 22-year-old Sonu, who hailed from Bihar. He was nowhere to be found Sunday, and a police team was sent to Bihar for investigation.
