Elaborate security arrangements in place ahead of Yoga Day celebrations: Delhi Police

Delhi Police on Friday said that elaborate security arrangements have been put in place for the celebration of International Yoga Day at Rajpath on June 21, adding that around 18 Deputy Commissioners would deployed in the area to maintain the law and order situation.

“We have taken proper steps to ensure safety during International Yoga Day celebrations, to ensure smooth movement of traffic and to maintain law and order. We will be deploying around 18 Deputy Commissioners in the areas near Rajpath and Vijay Chowk on that day. Apart from that, we are deploying 30 company force along with local police. Our motive is to ensure that there is no inconvenience to the visitors, press personnel and participants,” Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi told media persons.

Thousands of school children, members of the armed forces, National Cadet Corps (NCC), government officials and yoga enthusiasts will perform yoga at Rajpath during the celebration of International yoga Day on June 21.

The event would see the participation of over 35, 000 people.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also take part in the event and address the gathering before kick-starting it on Sunday. (ANI)
