Elaborate arrangements for GHMC elections: Dr. Janardhan Reddy

GHMC Commissioner & Election Authority Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy said that all elaborate arrangements have been made for the GHMC elections which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Dr. Janardhan Reddy said that all polling parties who have been deployed have been reached their polling stations and so far the entire process has been going on smoothly. He said that the polling personal who have been deployed must be available at the polling station by morning 5:30 AM and by 6 AM, the polling agents have to be present at the concerned polling stations. The mock polling has to be conducted at the respective polling stations in between 6and 6.15 AM. The EVMs will be sealed by 6.55AM and the polling will start by sharp 7AM. The polling will end by 5PM sharp and those who have entered the polling station before 5 will be given a chance to vote even until midnight.

The Election Authority said that the voters who doesn’t have electronic photo identity card (EPIC) can show other 21 varieties of cards to cast their franchise. Experts have been deployed for immediate repairs of EVMs in case any error occurs at the polling station. In every polling station, basic minimum facilities like drinking water and toilets have been provide while special arrangements have been made to the physically challenged persons. A separate ballot paper with Braille lipi has been provided at every polling station for visually disabled.

He also informed that so far Rs. 2,58,44,300/- have been seized and 2,25,956 unauthorised cutouts, flexies, banners, posters have been removed and liquor worth around Rs. 105,720 has also been seized. (INN)
