Theni, February 15: Eight women were killed and nine others injured when the van in which they were travelling collided with a tipper truck at Anna Nagar near Vaigai dam, today.
Police said the occupants of the van were going to Devathanapatti from Podi to attend a function when the mishap occurred.
While seven died on the spot, one woman died at the Government hospital here. All the injured were admitted to the same hospital.
However, the condition of four was said to be critical, police added.
