Eight suicides reported in Raisen district

Eight persons, including four women, have allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in the district, police said today.

All cases of alleged suicides are reported over last two days, they said.

Dharmendra Ahirwar (22) killed himself at Khaija village by allegedly consuming some poisonous substance, they
said, adding the motive behind the extreme step is not known.

In another incident, Maya Yadav (20) killed herself by consuming cellphos tablets allegedly due to dowry harassment, police said.

In Udaypura town, Govind Lodhi (30) allegedly hanged himself for unknown reason, police said, adding Shahnaz Bi
(21) too ended her life by hanging at Mala village.

At Mohad village, an 18-year-old woman ended her life by allegedly jumping into the well. The cause behind the
extreme step is being investigated, said police.

In another incident, a newly-married woman, identified as Rajni Bai, committed suicide by consuming some poisonous
substance allegedly due to harassment by a youth in Rehatwasvillage.

A 28-year-old youth, Sarevsh Kumar from Begumganj tehsil allegedly hanged himself from a tree, police said.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a woman identified as Manorama Singh (26) was set afire allegedly by her husband, Sher Singh for dowry at Madkheda Gulab village, police added.
