Hyderabad, December 05: Eight persons, including five women, were today killed and five others injured after their jeep collided head-on with a lorry in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, police said.
The jeep, carrying 13 persons was on its way to Hyderabad from Tirupati when it collided with the lorry near Panyam town this morning, they said.
“Eight of the occupants died on the spot, while five others suffered injuries and were rushed to a local hospital,” a police officer said.
“The jeep was being driven on high speed and it seems the driver was sleepy when the mishap occurred,” the officer said.
The victims hail from Ranga Reddy district.
Further investigations were on.
