Hyderabad, February 05: The Muslim community celebrated Eid Milad on Sunday February 5 with great devotion and fervour. Muslims offered mass prayers and greeted each other on the occasion in the city and in other parts of the district. People of all ages took part in a massive rally organized by Sunni groups in the city.
The day, which will be a public holiday, will begin with special prayers for the propagation of harmony, compassion and unity amongst the Ummah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Newspapers and magazines will publish special supplements, while television channels arranged special “Naatia Mushairas” and quiz programmes on Seerat-e-Mustafa on the occasion. Mehafil-e-Milad and public meetings will also be held in different parts of the City, with Milad processions being taken out from different areas of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad to pay homage to the last messenger (PBUH).
Stringent security measures have been taken to maintain the law and order situation and prevent any untoward incident. City Police Commissioner A.K. Khan also seen examination the security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident.
President Pratibha Patil congratulated Muslims on the auspicious birthday of the benefactor of humanity.
