Washington, August 21: The Islamic Crescent Observation Project (ICOP) has said the first day of Eid Al Fitr in UAE, which depends on the sighting of the moon, will be either on Tuesday, August 30 or Wednesday, August 31.
Most Muslim countries which started Ramadan on August 1 will have their 29th day of Ramadan, on August 29 and on that day the moon sighting is impossible from all regions of the Islamic world due to moonset before or with sunset, such as North and Central Asia including the UAE, Qatar , Bahrain, Kuwait, northern and central Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Levant and North Africa.
Meanwhile, the Eid Al Fitr for federal ministries and public sector departments will start on Sunday August 28 and end on Shawwal 3, September 1, according to a circular issued by Humaid Obaid Al Qutami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Human Resources Authority.
Holidays for the private sector will fall on the first two days of Eid.
