Egypt’s Sisi receives credentials of Indian Ambassador

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi today received the credentials of Indian Ambassador Sanjay Bhattacharyya and 10 other new envoys.

The new ambassadors include those of Zambia, Ukraine, Cyprus, Brazil, Colombia, Australia, Vatican, Pakistan, Panama and Brunei, according to the Presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef.

The President welcomed the ambassadors and said that Egypt is keen on enhancing the bilateral relationships with their countries, Youssef said.

Bhattacharyya, a 1987-batch IFS officer, has worked in various capacities in Hong Kong (1989-92), Beijing (1992-95 and 2002-05), Brussels (1998-2001), Tokyo (2007-10) and Dhaka (2010-12).

He was Joint Secretary (South) in the Ministry of External Affairs from 2012-2015 and assumed charge as Ambassador of India to Egypt on May 12.
