Egyptian President’s news conference at Berlin ends in turmoil

The Joint Press Conference of President of Egypt, Gen. Abdul Fatah el-Sisi and German Chancellor, Ms. Angela Merkel ended in turmoil. During the press conference a lady reporter pointing at Gen. Abdul Fatah el-Sisi shouted that he is murderer. Soon after this, the security officials removed her from the conference site. Other press reporters came out of the room and started shouting slogans “End Military Rule in Egypt”. On the other hand the supports of Gen. Abdul Fatah el-Sisi shouted slogans “Egypt Zindabad”. Both the leaders left the conference room abruptly. Gen. Abdul Fatah el-Sisi, defended the death sentence given to his predecessor, Dr. Mohammed Morsi. However, Ms. Angela Merkel told that both the countries hold different opinions on death sentence. She further told that Egypt is an important strategic partner of Germany in the Middle East. It is reported that Gen. Abdul Fatah el-Sisi’s tour of Berlin has become controversial. Human Rights activists staged protest on the roads of Berlin. Speaker of German Parliament, Norbert Lammert did not meet Gen. Abdul Fatah el-Sisi in the wake of lack of democracy and campaign against opposition in Egypt. The protestors had surrounded the presidential palace where Gen. Abdul Fatah el-Sisi was given reception with Military Honours.
