Cairo, April 23: Prime Minister Dr. Issam Sharaf laid a wreath at the site of the unknown soldier in the Cairo suburb of Nasr on Saturday on the occasion of the Sinai liberation anniversary, it was officially reported.
The prime minister is due, later today, to visit the governorate of South Sinai, to meet eminent figures and notables.
Egypt is celebrating the 29th anniversary of the liberation of Sinai, on April 25, 1982, in line with the 1979 Camp David Treaty with Israel.
Israel withdrew from Sinai which it occupied in the 1967 war with neighboring Arab states.
Sinai is a strategic region, rich in natural resources, and constitutes the front line for defense of Egypt.
