Egypt army chief vows to stand firm amid escalating violence in country

Egypt”s army chief, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, has vowed to stand firm in the face of violence by Islamists. El-Sisi has made the strong comments for the first time since a deadly crackdown on supporters of ousted president Mohammed Morsi. According to news24, he said that whoever believes violence will make Egypt kneel must reconsider, as the army will never be silent in the face of the destruction of the country. Sisi, the general behind the popularly backed military coup that toppled Morsi on 3 July, made the statement during a meeting with military and police commanders, the report added. (ANI)
