Efforts to stop “Freedom March” of Fazlur Rahman accelerated

Lahore: The negotiations between Govt. Committee and the opposition parties of Pakistan did not yield fruitful results. It was decided by both the parties to maintain communications.

Govt. started its efforts to stop “Freedom March”.

A meeting of the opposition committee led by Mr. Parvaiz Khutak was held at the residence of Mr, Akram Durrani at Islamabad. In this meeting, demands of ‘Dharna’ and “Freedom March” were considered.

There were two sittings of the meeting. The Home Minister, Mr. Khutak had made it clear earlier that all the demands would be considered and a solution will be found out.

Opposition committee members demanded that permission should be given to “Freedom March” to reach out to ‘D’ Chowk, whereas the Govt. Committee showed the High Court judgment which does not allow any protest to reach out to ‘D’ Chowk. Govt. is prepared to permit the protesters to assemble on parade ground. Opposition leaders them to allow the protest at Jinnah Avenue, China Chowk. Govt. representatives sought time for this demand.

Before the meeting started, both the parties addressed a press conference which was pleasant according to Home Minister.

The second session started at 10 p.m. At the end of this session, the leaders of both the groups held a press conference.

Home Minister informed that no decision could be made.

Maulana Fazlur Rahman took tough stand and said that no compromise would be made with the Govt.

He changed the date of march from 10th October to 27th October.
