Thiruvananthapuram: Efforts of RSS and the BJP to paint Kerala in bad light will not pay off, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said.
“People of the state were willing to forget and forgive and move forward by upholding high ideals of peace and brotherhood. Efforts of RSS and the BJP to paint Kerala in bad light will not pay off,” Chandy said.
He was reacting to an article in the RSS mouthpiece ‘Organiser’ which stated that “there is nothing called collective consciousness of Godliness amongst the Kerala Hindus”.
The article had also criticised Chandy’s stand that the state would seek legal action against Delhi police for raiding Kerala House canteen during the beef row.
It had also alleged that ‘beef is being sold in the state by disregarding the sentiments of majority Hindu community’.
Earlier, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan had severely criticised the article stating it was “a collection of lies and insulting the people of the state. It was an attempt to attack secular stand of Kerala people through concocted propaganda,” he said.
The article titled ‘God’s own country or Godless country’ by M Surendra Nathan, a Mumbai-based lawyer, had stated that for over 50 years of Communist activism in Kerala, its “ideologies of violence, atheism, purported rationalism etc have reached every nook and corner of the state.”
“There is nothing called collective consciousness of Godliness” amongst the Kerala Hindus’, he had stated.
