Islamic shariah prohibits every kind of intoxicants. In the Holy Quran the Almighty Allah ordered not to go near prayer when intoxicated. But it is a shame for Muslims of Hyderabad that due to our negligence a masjid has been transformed into toddy and liquor godown.
Masjid Atr Faroshan and Dargah Hazrat Ahmed Shah Quadri are located at Jummerat Bazar area of the city. Illegal liquor and toddy were being stockpiled at the place. When the Muslim youth learned this they undertook the task of restoring the masjid. President Deccan Waqf Property Protection Society Mr. Osman bin Mohammed Alhajari represented the matter with waqf board but due to indifferent attitude of the waqf board officials his wish could not be fulfilled. He contacted local non-Muslim persons who offered help in restoring the masjid. Local influential non Muslims Messrs Raghu Singh, Ganesh Singh, Mukesh Singh and Dharam Singh offered their help. Constant efforts of Messrs Taher Pasha Kareemuddin Shakeel advocate, D Santosh Kumar, Mohammed bin Ahmed, Syed Ghouse alias Pasha, Mohsin bin Husain Alkaseeri, Mohammed Inayat Tawakkal bore fruits and local Hindu brothers have not offered help to clean the masjid but also told that Muslims can inhabit the masjid whenever they want.
