Efforts on to include endowed properties as Waqf in govt. records

Special Officer Waqf Board Shaikh Muhammed Iqbal IPS has told that the case against former member and coordinator Hajj Committee Syed Muneeruddin Ahmed Mukhtar on the charges of large scale misappropriation of funds has been registered on the basis of legal opinion and auditor’s report. Waqf board has recently suspended mutavallis of three dargahs. It has extended the period of suspension and announced comprehensive probe into the matter. Shaikh Muhammad Iqbal told this during a press conference. He said that only two mutavallis replied to the show-cause notice and that too unsatisfactory, hence the suspension has been extended and probe is ordered under section 37.

Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal told that before the bifurcation of the state on June 2, he is trying to enter all the endowment properties and lands into government records as waqf. All the district collectors and superintendents of police have been sent letters in this connection. Police complaint will be made against illegal occupants in each district.

He further informed that authorities have been contacted to obtain compensation for the Waqf lands acquired by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Water Works. Commissioner GHMC has agreed to pay the compensation.
