Effective representation on Muslim reservations in Supreme Court

Central Govt. is facing a lot of criticism from all the corners for not dealing with the case of 4.5% reservation for Minorities in the Supreme Court. It has commissioned the services of Mr. P.S. Krishnan, former IAS officer. He has been invited to New Delhi by Govt. of India where he is busy in consultations with central officials. On the basis of these consultations, a petition would be filed in Supreme Court for 4.5% reservations for Minorities.

Former IAS officer, Mr. P.S. Krishnan had submitted comprehensive report on the social and educational backwardness of the Muslims, based on which the state Govt. has provided 4% reservations to Minorities.

Mr. Krishnan’s report was made the basis in High Court and Supreme Court in reservations case for 4.5% AP High Court had struck down these reservations. When this judgment was challenged. Supreme Court refused twice to issue stay order on the judgment of AP High Court criticisms are being made on Addl Solicitor General of India. It is alleged that he didn’t plead the case properly.

Attorney General and Solicitor General of India were also not present on the occasion of arguments in Supreme Court. Taking into consideration of the criticisms of Minorities, Govt. of India consulted the Govt. of AP as to how it is implementing 4% reservations policy. The state Govt. advised the Central Govt. to appoint Mr. P.S. Krishnan an adviser.

Following the advice of the Govt. of AP, the Central Govt. commissioned the services of Mr. Krishnan and he was invited to New Delhi for consultations. Mr. Krishnan is supposed to be an authority on Minorities affairs.

When Supreme Court reopens in the first week of July. Govt. of India will file a Special Leave Petition in Supreme Court of India and try to obtain interim orders.
