Eduheal Foundation hosts the Biggest Financial Olympiad in India

Mumbai :Eduheal Foundation, an international level NGO along with BSE Institute Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the BSE Ltd hosted the finale of the BSE International Financial Olympiad at the BSE International convention hall at Mumbai during the week-end.

It is an initiative to extend financial literacy to the school level through its flagship innovative and educative national level financial quiz competition.

Over 108 students competed with each other in the national level competition. This year around fifteen thousand students across India participated in the national level competition which was spread over 12 months.

Besides promoting financial literacy, Eduheal Foundation works towards` healing the education` by bringing out innovative programmes and enhancing students interest in dry school subjects like Maths ,Science, English, Cyber ,Biotechnology, Art, Cricket and for those aspiring for IIT-PMT.

Since 2006, EHF has been involving more than 4000 schools and six lakh students on an annual basis. The students greatly benefit from participating in the EHF Olympiads which have become a craze amongst them, vying for the international ranks and getting fabulous prizes and scholarship. The certificate opens up doors for the students to apply for universities in India and abroad. The students are also mentored for Google Science fair and compete amongst the best budding scientists across the world

The first round of the BSE International Financial Olympiad covered students from 544 schools from 150 cities and 18 states in India out of which 875 students, post an online test, were qualified for the 2nd round and 108 students were selected for the finale in Mumbai.

The BSE International Finance Olympiad also awarded nine principals and 27 teachers from various schools that had participated for the Olympiad.

The event was graced by the presence of Shaina NC, Spokesperson of BJP, an Indian fashion designer and social worker, Ms. Dipti Neelakantan, Group Chief Operating Officer at JM Financial & Auxiliary Bishop Savio Dominic Fernandes who is serving as the Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay Archdiocese.

Dr. Sandeep Ahlawat, Managing Trustee, Eduheal Foundation said that BIFO, a brain child of Eduheal foundation which sponsored by BSEI, is the only Finance olympiad truly promoting financial literacy across school students in India and abroad.On an annual basis it reaches across to 1000`s of schools with participation from 550+ schools and more than 13000 students from classes 9 to 12 vying for a prize money totaling 15 lakhs , taking back a` wow` experience of being a part of the oldest and fastest stock exchange in the world.

Besides students, the annual prize distribution function, the 3rd one since 2014, felicitated the principals and teachers who make all this possible. What more, today the gathering of more than 700 from 150 cities and 18 states reflects the momentum the school financial literacy drive has achieved. Sandeep Ahlawat , speaking at the ceremony said: “My heart also goes out to the thousands of students who didn`t make it to the final today and to the unrepresented ones who have immense potential waiting to be tapped. Eduheal foundation endeavours to reach out to all these with continuing support from BSE and BSEI represented ably by Shri Chauhan and Shri Ambarish Datta respectively.

Dr. Sandeep Ahlawat further said, “I’m overwhelmed by the participation we have been getting year on year. BSE International Financial Olympiad is one of the biggest financial Olympiad in the country. It is an initiative to extend financial literacy at school level through its flagship innovative and educative national level financial quiz competition. I’m glad that this year we had more than 22 girl students who made it till the final round and also bagged the prizes. We constantly strive to encourage participation from girls thereby encouraging the government’s initiative of educating the girl child. I’m positive that this event will transform the participating students into financially literate adults of the next generation”.

BSE International Financial Olympiad is aimed at encouraging school students to explore and learn more about financial world by developing analytical and problem solving skills that will be essential to their careers.

The purpose of BSE International Financial Olympiad is to create awareness about financial literacy amongst students at a young age. It is aimed at empowering students with a proper understanding of the opportunities in the financial markets. Financial Olympiad helps students prioritize their personal financial goals and guides them towards becoming financially responsible. During the initial rounds of BSE International Financial Olympiad, students studying in class 9, 10, 11 and 12 participated in inter school written tests followed by an online test. This National level financial Olympiad not only saw participation but winners too from across the length and breadth of the country – Chandrapur, Jalgaon, Angul, Tiruneveli, Ujjain, Bhopal, Pune, Ghaziabad, Mumbai and many other cities. The toppers from Mumbai were Mr. Shubh Shah and Ameya Parekh from Std 1X, Ms Bhoomi Yagnik from Std X and Konita Sreya from Std XII.

The BSE International Finance Olympiad is a three stage pan-India competition which is held every year. Various schools from Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Bangalore, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Telangana etc. participate in this mega event. The BIFO was started by Eduheal Foundation (EHF) with sponsorship from BSEI. This is the 4th year of the event and the last stage of the competition was held on 8th April 2016 at the BSE International convention hall, Mumbai.(ANI)
