Education system in coffin under TRS govt: Ponnam

Alleging that the TRS government killed the education system and kept it in a coffin, Congress former MP Ponnam Prabhakar asked the Minister concerned to tender his resignation or to own the moral responsibility by the Chief Minister or the government has to tender an apology to the people on High Court cancellation of Vice-Chancellors appointments.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday, Ponnam said everyone thought that the government would improve educational standards, but it was kept in coffin by killing the education system in the State. The government stopped appointments in Universities and DSC recruitments. The government also starved the Universities by not allocating funds making them as the centers for problems. Some people went to Court on Universities and while the High Court was dealing with the case the Government released a G.O appointing the vice-chancellors to the Universities in a hurry. But the Court cancelled the appointments G.O. today, he said stating that it was a15th slap on the government.

The government was not bothered about the slaps and it was unfortunate, he said. The government was not acting responsibly and due to its farm house rule and unethical governance the situation arose in this manner, he charged. He also asked the Chief Minister not to take decisions in inebriated condition in the farm house. The Chief Minister has to take constructive decisions at least now on education system, Ponnam advised. It was not correct to the government to behave in such a manner it behaves towards terrorists towards Congress leaders when they questioned on democracy, he said.  (NSS)
