Hyderabad, January 14: Education is the only way to uplift the economy and also the status of an individual in society, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said today.
Literacy rate in the country has improved phenomenally and the country’s growth in various sectors was “enormous”, he said.
Inaugurating the country’s first women’s medical college for minorities near here, Azad said that education can bring a great change in the status of women, particularly in the Muslim community.
The Congress-led UPA Government has launched many welfare schemes, some of the which encourage professional minority colleges to focus on science and engineering education, the Minister said.
Praising educationist Vizarat Rasool Khan for establishing the college, Azad said he hoped more such institutions would come up in the country.
