Education has the power to change the world: Harish Rao

Hyderabad: T. Harish Rao, Minister for Finance, Government of Telangana inaugurated Telangana Recognised School Management Association (TRSMA)’s two-day conference and education fair on Saturday. This is being held in conjunction with the ongoing Kids Fair 2019.

Addressing 2000 plus gathering, Harish Rao said, education has the power to transform the world. However, educational standards must be improved. More skills and value-based education is required, he said.

Responding to TRSMA’s appeal to allow concessions in Municipal Tax and Electricity bills to private schools, he said, he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister. TRSMA appeal that private schools must be billed taxes as a service-oriented institution instead of the current practice of considering them as commercial entities.

Like Government schools, even private schools are serving the society, TRSMA State President, Yadagiri Shekar Rao told the minister. Private Schools are also service minded unlike people generally perceive us, Shekar Rao stated

TRSMA is a family of 10,000 schools 35 lakh students and 4 lakh teaching and non-teaching staff. Our members are doing a great service to the nation, he added

Private schools are providing value for money education. They are contributing to society. We also implement all government schemes and policies. We also serve the poor. We need government support, Shekhar Rao told.

Speaking about trends, Shekhar Rao said, the last minute’s preparation, just before exam must be stopped. Children must steadily progress every day and must prepare every day.

Moral Values the way in our ancient days were taught must be revived. Teacher and Student paramours ala Guru-Dushya paramours in our olden days must be revived, Shekhar Rao added

When asked what can teacher colleges do to turn around declining interest in the profession, Shekhar Rao ruled out that on the contrary demand for teacher jobs is on the rise.

The conference will discuss new education policy, new educational tools, the environment in schools, trends, technology in education, teacher training, methodologies and other things, informed Shekhar Rao.
