Hyderabad: “Helping Hand” which had taken a humble initiative six years back starting at Qayam Nagar is yielding rich dividends.
A function was held the other day at the Western Block of Salarjung Museum Auditorium in which cash prizes worth more than Rs. 2.5 lakh were distributed by Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing Director of Siasat Urdu Daily.
In his special address, inviting the attention of students and their parents, Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan told that education is the greatest weapon of the time. If Muslims adopt it, they can grab the entire world into their hands.
Applauding the efforts of Dr. Shaukat Ali Mirza, Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan told that Muslim Ummah needs many such Mirzas.
He further told that at a time when all the forces are making attempts to crush the Muslims, the only thing which can elevate them is education. He cited many examples wherein despite poverty, students could get admissions in prestigious medical and engineering colleges.
Dr. Shaukat Ali Mirza, in his speech highlighted the activities of ‘Helping Hand’. He told that in 2013, when the foundation of the organization was laid, it seemed that whatever is done, nothing is going to happen, but it was the firm determination with which this movement is marching forward. In the beginning, it was started with 29 students. Through the efforts of the organization, a girl belonging to Purani Haveli could get a free seat in MBBS. Three girl students after completing computer science with distinction got jobs. Two students got through CA in the first attempt.
Mr. Azhar Abedi, the guest speaker who had come from London told the students that it is not enough if they confine themselves to their textbooks. They should read newspapers, journals and reference books.
Mr. Iftekhar Husain, Secretary, Faiz-e-Aam Trust expressed delight over the best performance of girl students. He also lamented that boys are lagging behind in education.
At the end of the function, Mr. Rizwan Haider, Trustee of ‘Helping Hands’ put an end to his speech with the following Urdu couplet:
Manzileen Mil bhi Jayengi Bhatakte hi sahihGumrah toh woh hain jo gharse nikle hi nahin.
