The State government is giving fresh impetus to enrolment of school dropouts through ‘Education Fortnight’. Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed the officials to conduct “Education Fortnight” from June 22 to July 5 all over the State. During this period, inaugurations, foundations, creation of infrastructure, distribution of uniforms, textbooks and so on will be taken up and Rs 5,000 crore will be spent during the Fortnight.
According to a government pressnote, 1,34,31,615 students were enrolled in various schools in the State. Of which 73,41,986 students are in government schools, 5,02,024 in Aided schools, while 55,87,605 in private schools. The main objectives of the Education Fortnight are to ensure 100% enrollment of all 6 to 14 year children, 100% mainstreaming of all “out of school” children estimated to be around 1.04 lakhs. Cent per cent transition to next higher classes, 100% functional toilets for boys and girls, massive awareness campaign on Right to Education Act and launching of new model schools and hostels and so on.
The Education Fortnight will be celebrated by all departments with the participation of students, teachers, ministers, elected representatives, parents, NGOs and so on. The departments like Education, Women and Child welfare, SC, ST, BC, Minority, Disabled Welfare, Culture, Sports, Forest, Residential Schools Societies are involved in implementing various activities and schemes for Education development of the Children.
During the Fortnight, inauguration of 300 model school buildings constructed at a cost of Rs 816 crores, 120 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas of Rs 150 crores, 8,000 additional classrooms costing Rs 424 crores, 173 School complexes worth Rs 54.16 crores and foundations for 3,437 School buildings with Rs.1202.95 crores, 300 rest rooms with Rs.17.5 crs and distribution of 52.15 lakhs uniforms with Rs.224 crs, 5.27 crore text books with Rs.200 crs of Education department., 728 new schools, additional infrastructure etc. of Social welfare foundation with Rs.1735 crores, 3 residential schools inauguration with Rs.18.80 crs, foundation of one residential school with Rs.2.50 crores of Tribal welfare, 6 residential schools foundation with Rs.9 crores of Minority Welfare, 70 hostels foundation with Rs.59 crs of B C welfare, 430 Anganwadi buildings foundations with Rs.18 crores of Women and Child Welfare Department will be taken up. Apart from the above, Distribution of apparatus for Special need children, physically challenged children, Sports equipment etc. will also be taken up.
During the Fortnight — Model School Dinotsavam will be observed on June 22, RVM/KGBV Dinotsavam on June 23, Gurukula Dinotsavam on June 24, Social Welfare Dinotsavam on June 25, RMSA Dinotsavam on June 26, Minority Education Dinotsavam on June 27, Mathru Bhasha Gowrava Dinotsavam on June 28, School Management Committees/Parents day Dinotsavam on 29, Child Rights Dinotsavam on june 30, Pre-School Dinotsavam on July 1, Science-Maths Dinotsavam on July 2, tree plantation Dinotsavam on July 3, Moral Education Dinotsavam on July 4 and Sports Dinotsavam on June 5 will be celebrated.
