Government of Andhra Pradesh is organizing ‘Education Fortnight’ to bring every child into the educational network. This programme will be conducted throughout the State from 9th to 21st July 2012.
CM of AP Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy will inaugurate the programme on 9th July at Lalith Kala Thoranum in Public Garden, Hyderabad.
Speaking to media persons on Wednesday at Media Point in Secretariat, Minister for Primary Education, Dr. S. Shailaja Nath gave the details of this programme. He informed that Education Fortnight would be organized in collaboration with the departments of Primary and Secondary Education and Rajiv Vidya Mission. The main objective of this programme is to get the children above the age of 5 years admitted in the nearby schools.
In addition to it, all those students who have passed Vth and VIth standards should be ensured their admission into the higher classes in order to check dropout rates.
Attempts will be made during these fourteen days to ensure compulsory admission of all the children of 5 years and above.
The minister also told that steps would be taken to construct new school buildings and to provide basic amenities in the existing schools. Steps would be taken on priority basis to construct toilets and also to provide drinking water facilities.

All these measures would be adapted under Right to Education Act.
Special attention will be paid to retain the strength of the students because most of the students drop out after completing their education upto 8th standard.
Efforts will be made to increase the percentage of students at matriculation level.
