Educate people about canards, falsehoods against Govt:PM tells CWC

Taking the attack on the Opposition further ahead, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has lashed out at ”disparate and desperate” elements which spread misinformation against the UPA, and asked Congress leaders to educate people about the ”canards and falsehoods” spread by those opposed to the government.

Speaking at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting here yesterday, the Prime Minister cautioned against the ”difficult times” for the country and the economy caused to a large extent by circumstances over which the government had little or no control. He, however, reaffirmed his government’s commitment to tackle corruption in public life and bring about transparency and accountability in government functioning. ”The misinformation being spread by disparate and
desperate elements, unified only by their opposition to our government, needs to be tackled effectively…It is very important for all the leaders and workers of the Congress Party to educate the public about the canards and falsehoods being spread by those who are opposed to us,” the Prime Minister said.
