City-based Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL), today flagged off the consignment of Antenna System bound for Bharti Station at Antarctica. The system, which performs even under extreme conditions, was flagged off by National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) Deputy Director Mr D S Jain in the presence of ECIL Acting CMD Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Sanjeev Loomba, the ECIL said in release here. The project has been successfully executed by ECIL Executive Director Mr Ch VRS Gopalakrishna and NRSC Project Director Mr M.Satyanarayana and the installation will be carried out by ECIL engineers during the ensuing summer season in Antarctica between December 2012 to March 2013. ECIL won the prestigious project from NRSC, Indian Space Research Organisation, Department of Space, Hyderabad for establishing ground stations for Earth Observation Satellites and Communication facility at Bharti Station, Antarctica against global competition.
