Hyderabad, August 08: Stating that it aims to balance the energy supply and demand with maximum resource efficiency, the Energy Conservation Committee (ECC) of the Energy Department on Sunday fervently appealed to the general public to help in making the energy conservative measures more effective.
The ECC’s appeal to the people to join hands with it in energy conservation came at its first meeting held under the Chairmanship of Ahmed Nadeem.
The ECC resolved to involve all stake holders in the rapid implementation of energy conservation initiatives of the state government to achieve not only reduction in electricity wastage but also to tackle the challenge of ever growing peak hour power demand.
The ECC invited the general public to participate in the gigantic exercise of making energy conservation measures more effective by sending their suggestions to Energy Coordination Cell, 619, Vidhyut Soudha, Somajiguda, Hyderabad -500082 by post or by email atmembersecretary.ecc@gmail.com.
The ECC emphasized the need for the Strategic Energy Conservation Plan for implementing a set of proactive energy conservation programmes with the coordination of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Union Power Ministry, New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of AP (NREDCAP) and concerned NGOs at the field level.
The objective of the government is to balance the energy supply and demand with maximum resource efficiency and to reduce power deficiency and ensure that the electricity with sustainable voltage is made available to all categories of consumers.
The ECC has appraised Energy Department Principal Secretary Dinesh Kumar on the various programs being taken up to achieve desired goals.
Mr Dinesh Kumar directed ECC to submit a comprehensive and implementable report to the government positively by the end of September, 2011.
The Committee has resolved to expedite the implementation of Bachat Lamp Yojana (BLY) scheme in all the four DISCOMs. The ECC discussed issues like the high efficiency lighting program, energy efficiency improvement methods in agriculture sector, use of advanced technology in public lighting and municipal pumping and energy audit in all government organizations and autonomous bodies.
The ECC further resolved to focus on conservation steps in the four top priority sectors such as industry, agriculture, Domestic and government organisations and Local Bodies.
During the meeting the ECC decided to set up a Sub-Committee at each DISCOM level to get feedback on effectiveness of the program and convey the same to state level committee.
The Sub-Committee of APCPDCL, Hyderabad is given the task of sourcing the feedback from the Industrial sector with special focus on small and medium scale industries.
Similarly the AP NPDCL, Warangal will take up agriculture sector, the APEPDCL, Visakhapatnam will study about the Domestic Sector and finally the AP SPDCL, Tirupati will focus on government organizations and Local Bodies.
Besides this, it was resolved to involve the NGOs and other agencies for eliciting public opinion and suggestions with possible solutions in the task of conservation of energy.
ECC members P Rajagopal Reddy, P Ganapathy, S Vishwanatham, N Rammohan and Member –Convenor A Chandrasekhar Reddy participated in the crucial meeting.
