EC seeks suggestions for making polls ‘more transparent’

Srinagar, June 29: Election Commission today sought suggestions from electoral officers from across the country to make poll process more transparent.

“I would like you to give valuable suggestions for making the election process more transparent,” Chief Election Commissioner Navin Chawla said here today while addressing a two-day conference of chief electoral officers of all states.

“The conference discussed various measures to be taken for curbing money power in the elections, so that a sense of discipline and transparency is ensured in the electoral process,” an official spokesman said.

It was also discussed that the completion of electoral rolls across the country by the end of July is ensured so that the bogus and ineligible voters are deleted from the lists, he said.

Earlier, Election Commissioners S Y Qureshi and V S Sampath spelt out various measures for making the commission more vibrant and responsive.
