Deputy Election Commissioner of India Vinod Zutshi will conduct a meeting on May 5 with the Collectors and Superintendants of Police of 12 districts to review arrangements for the by-elections to be held on June 12.
Talking to reporters at the State Secretariat, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal said that the Deputy Election Commissioner would review the arrangements and issue instructions for the administration of election-bound districts. Meanwhile, the Election Commission will also conduct an all-party meeting on May 8th or 9th with regard to the by-elections.
Bhanwarlal said that he was in receipt of complaints of favouritism against the VRO of Guntur and the CI and VRO of Allagadda. He said the complaints were being probed.
The CEO said that no political party would be permitted to install any statue due to the imposition of Model Code of Conduct. Further, publicity through RTC buses has also been banned. He said the opinion of Election Commission of India has been sought with regard to subsidy on loans for farmers in the districts where elections are scheduled to be held. (INN)
