EC issues prohibitory orders for TS polls

Hyderabad: As the elections are just two days away, the Election Commission today issued prohibitory orders in Telangana State against public meetings. State Chief Electoral Officer Dr Rajath Kumar has issued orders in this regard.

As per the EC directive, the 13 naxal infested or sensitive segments will see the poling till 4 pm to ensure fair polling he said. As a result, the public meetings have to be closed at 4 pm on December 5 he said. The following segments to have early conclusion of the polls in Manthani, Bhupalapalle, Mulugu, Pinapaka, Yellandu, Kothagudem, Aswaraopeta, Bhadrachalam Sirpur, Chennur, Bellampally, Mancherial and Asifabad. Those other segments will see the polls till 5 pm and the prohibiting orders to be in place from December 5 onwards. The EC directed that no campaigns, meetings, ads in television channels, pre poll surveys and result of opinion polls are strictly prohibited. He said that political parties or others have to follow suit and cooperate for smooth and peaceful conduct of the Assembly polls. The EC will initiate immediate action against the violators of the poll code, he warned.
