The Election Commission (EC) is examining the complaints received from Telangana Rashtra Samiti to decide whether action can be initiated against Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Telugu Desam Rajya Sabha member from Warangal district, Gundu Sudharani, for violation of the model code for the by-election.
According to the complaint, the Chief Minister, while addressing Congress workers from Nizamabad district at his camp office recently, promised to sanction a drinking water scheme for Kamareddy where by-election is being held along with six other constituencies in the State. The TRS sent video footage of the Chief Minister’s address to the Congress workers.
In its complaint against Ms. Sudharani, the TRS alleged that she too promised to take up a drinking water scheme in Station Ghanpur Assembly constituency, with the funds available under MP Local Area Development Scheme. The Warangal Collector had been asked to submit a report to the EC, Bhanwar Lal, Chief Electoral Officer, said here on Thursday.
