Telangana Telugu Desam Party president L Ramana today urged the Election Commission to take action against TRS party for trying to influence GHMC polls by bringing thousands of leaders from outside.
He met the Commission today and lodged a complaint stating that the ruling party was trying to indulge in malpractices to get votes in their favour. The TDP leader’s comments came at a time when its ally BJP made similar comments as its chief G Kishen Reddy accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of bringing in outside elements into the city to rig the polling.
Ramana further said since many of such leaders, with an aim to impersonate the voters are staying in the city and the voters may face a lot of inconvenience, he said. Ramana demanded that the commission take immediate steps to ensure that such persons get back to their home districts.
Speaking to mediapersons later, Ramana said the ruling party with ulterior motives pressed in such elements, which are ought to disturb the voting process. He said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and IT Minister KT Rama Rao are responsible for such undemocratic activity. “It is time for the Commission to act swiftly to ensure democratic process does not go haywire”, he opined.
