Eatery Owner Beaten Up for Not Serving ‘Favourite Dal’ in Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar

New Delhi: A 30-year-old man was beaten up and his eatery damaged by a group of around eight men following a heated argument allegedly over the food served to them in south Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar area, police said today.

The eatery owner, identified as Kuldeep Singh, was rushed to AIIMS trauma centre following the incident that took place last night at around 10:30 pm. His condition was reported to be stable.

Police have identified a few of the accused persons and a team is searching for them. A case under relevant sections has been registered at Safdarjung Enclave police station in this connection, said a senior official.

According to police, the incident occurred when eight men had come to the eatery for dinner. After their order arrived, they complained that they had asked for a different variety of dal from the one that was served to them.

A heated argument ensued as Mr Singh refused to accept the claims by the diners.

During the argument, some of the diners called up their friends and allegedly started thrashing Mr Singh. Once Mr Singh collapsed, they damaged his eatery and left.

The other vendors in the area called up police following which Mr Singh was rushed to hospital.
