Eateries inspected, 3 sealed

Hyderabad, October 25: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) today carried out surprise inspections on eating establishments in the Dilsukhnagar and LB Nagar areas and sealed three for “posing a danger to public health’’.

The establishments that were closed include Bhargavi Tiffins, Shop No 15, SC Complex, Dilsukhnagar, Tipsi Topsy Bakers, Dilsukhnagar, and Broadland Hotel in L B Nagar Circle as the kitchens were “in a bad condition’’.

As many as four special teams were constituted, each consisting of an assistant medical officer of health, food inspector, sanitary supervisor and enforcement vehicle with staff.

Altogether, the GHMC inspected 24 eateries and three were sealed.

All the remaining were issued notices to rectify the defects pointed out during the inspection. The corporation has asked all establishments to keep their kitchens clean, provide clean drinking water and serve fresh food.

Periodical inspections will be carried out throughout the Greater Hyderabad limits by the AMOHs and food inspectors concerned and surprise inspections where and when necessary, said Chief Medical Officer of Health Jayaram.
