Additional Joint Collector B Ramarao today said East Godavari district occupies first position at National level in Aadhaar enrolment achieving 95 per cent registrations. He told mediapersons that the government had sanctioned as many as 25 permanent Aadhaar centres of which one was started at the Collectorate here recently. He said efforts were being made to start the remaining permanent Aadhaar enrolment centres at the places already identified based on the requirement. A total of 87,153 applications on various grievances were received during Rachabanda programme of which already 80,000 applications were examined and the remaining are under consideration. For the ration cards 66,068 applications were received, of which 46,000 applications were considered and the balance is yet to be cleared. A todal 1.69 lakh ration coupons were distributed to the eligible people, he added. On the steps initiated by the administration to control the rice price, he said, special counters were opened at the Rythu Bazars to sell the fine rice at Rs 29 per kg and the response has been encouraging.
