Eamcet engineering counselling to begin on Aug 8

Hyderabad Aug 6 (INN): Notification to counseling for admissions into engineering
colleges would be issued on August 8 and the process will start within five days after
the notification. Minister for Social Welfare and Chairmen Admission Fees Regulatory
Committee Pithani Satyanarayana informed on Monday at a press conference here at the
Secretariat.

The minister said that state government would provide college tuition fees of Rs
31,000to each student as it has done in the last year and would provided bank loans to
the candidate to pay remaining amount of the fees. Replying to a query about the SC/SC
students’ fees, he said that more funds would be accumulated from the Social Welfare
Department of Government of India for the remaining fees of the students.

He informed that the meeting of Sub-committee for Admission Fees Regulatory
Committee (AFRC) was convened on Monday and the recommendations of the experts
were examined. He informed that out of over 700 professional colleges, 500 of them have
agreed to implement the fee structure made by the government while 131 colleges have
refused to accept the fee structure under the management quota.

The Minister said that a Task Force Committee of Experts would be constituted to take
stock of the infrastructure in the colleges affiliated to the Osmania University and JNTU.
This committee would take stock of the facilities provided to the students in the colleges,
he said. He said that government would upgrade polytechnic colleges into engineering
colleges in the State by next year to increase the seats.

Satyanarayana said that the government has made it mandatory for the private
engineering and profession colleges to provide admissions under Management Quota
through online process in order to maintain transparency. He warned the college
managements of stern action if they fail to follow the instructions.
