A 3-day Regional Consultation Workshop on “Developing Quality Guidelines for Open Educational Resources” jointly organized by Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia, New Delhi, (CEMCA) and Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad was inaugurated by Prof. Mohammad Miyan, Vice-Chancellor today.
Dr. Paul Kawachi, ODL expert from China said that teachers must be lifelong learners. He differentiated between Distance Education and Open Learning, contextualized learning. The Guest of honour Prof. V.S. Prasad, Former Director NAAC said that one must be radical in ideas and pragmatic in approach. Dynamic thoughts initiate changes in the society, he added.
The Chief Guest Prof. Gajaraja Dhanarajan, President Commonwealth of Learning, highlighted the practices of quality Assurance in Higher Education, emerging and old paradigms on quality in Higher Education.
Dignitaries from the commonwealth countries including Dr. Vijitha Nanayakkara, VC, Open University of Sri Lanka, Prof. Abdul Mannan, VC Open University of Bangladesh, Dr. Moosa Mohammed Manik, Dyputy Director, Curriculum Development, Villa College, Maldives, Prof. Nabi Bux Jumani, Dept. of Education International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan, Prof. Abtar Kaur, Faculty of Education and Languages Open University, Malaysia, Prof. Mohan B. Menon, Asst. Vice Chancellor, Wawasan Open University, Malaysia are attending the workshop. Vice Chancellors from BRAOU Prof. P. Prakash, Krishna University Prof. V. Venkaiah also participated in the workshop.
Prof. K. R. Iqbal Ahmed, Director DDE, MANUU delivered the welcome address. Dr. Gulfishan Habeeb, Associate Professor DDE conducted the proceedings and Prof. Sanjay Mishra, Director CEMCA, proposed vote of thanks.
