Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Sunday asked the officials of Task Force on Engineering Colleges to act tough against the colleges which flout rules and regulations.
Talking to media persons after convening a meeting with the Task Force officials at the State Secretariat, Damodar Rajanarasimha said that the inspection of colleges would begin from Monday. He said that inspections would be conducted based on the information provided by these colleges to the court and government and for implementing AICTE norms in all colleges in letter and principle. He said that criminal complaints would be booked against the colleges which flout norms and collect donations in the name of college development fee.
The Deputy Chief Minister appealed to the parents not to pay any donations to colleges and asked them to recollect donations if they’ve paid earlier. He asked the colleges to fill ‘B’ category seats on merit after issuing a notification. He warned that the recognition of college would be cancelled if the NRI quota seats were allotted to the non-NRI aspirants.
Responding to non-fixing of fee in 44 colleges, he said that the government would follow court’s directions in this regard. He asked the colleges to place all details on the website including scales of teaching and non-teaching staff.
Higher Education secretary M G Gopal, officials from Technical Education Commission and Task Force members attended the meeting.
