Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today celebrated Diwali with jawans of Border Security Force (BSF) along the International Border in RS Pura sector here.
“The Deputy Chief Minister, accompanied by his wife Mamta Singh, visited the 192 battalion headquarter of the BSF in RS Pura to celebrate Diwali with BSF jawans,” a BSF spokesman said.
He said Singh and his wife were received by Public Health and Engineering minister Sham Lal, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pawan Kotwal, Inspector General of BSF D K Upadhaya and other senior officials.
While interacting with troops, he appreciated their sacrifices and admired them for celebrating the festival with fervour despite all odds, the spokesman said.
Singh lauded the efforts of security forces, especially BSF for fighting war-like menace from Pakistan, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed good wishes for jawans and said borders of the country were safe in their hands, he added.
