Telangana Government is committed to promote Urdu language in the state, Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali has said.
Releasing a Urdu Book Urdu Ki Mata-E- Gumshuda Ki Bazyabi” authored by senior journalist MA Raheem at Secretariat here, the deputy chief minister said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is giving top priority to promote Urdu language in a big way besides working for the welfare and development of the Muslim Minorities. Urdu language was neglected in the undivided Andhra Pradesh from 1957, he charged. However, Telangana Government will make every effort to ensure that Urdu gets its due priority in universities as second language.
He gave a pat to Raheem for his persistent efforts for the development and promotion of the language and its usage. The book comprises opinions on Urdu language by national leaders and stalwarts including Fakruddin Ali Ahmed, Giani Jail Singh, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi and recommendations for language development by IK Gujral Committee and Ramchandra Reddy committee.
Showering praises on the senior scribe for his persistent efforts for Muslim education, welfare and development, Ali said that the government is committed for the same for growth, he said adding that a wide array of articles, essays and photographs gave a complete picture of Raheem’s exemplary work and perseverance. Besides in Madrasas, Urdu being taught in English medium schools as second language and we are planning to work in association with universities to promote and develop the language. We held a discussion with Urdu Academy to extend financial assistance to senior Urdu poets, he said.(NSS)
