Dy CM releases list of shortlisted B Tech candidates

Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Sunday released the list of short listed candidates for admission into six-year integrated BTech courses in the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies.

Releasing the results at the State Secretariat, Rajanarasimha told media persons that 3,000 candidates have been selected out of 26,000 who applied. He said that the counseling for the candidates would be held on July 26 and July 27 at RGUKT campus at Basar, Nuzuivid and RK Valley (Idupulapaya). The counseling for wait-listed candidates would be held on July 29. The ratio of girls and boys among those selected is 50.30: 49.70 respectively, he stated.

Stating that 88 percentage of students from rural areas have been given priority for admissions, he said that overall percent of students selected from the government schools would be 86 percent. The percentage of students from private and government residential schools is 14 percent. The classes for newly admitted candidates would start from July 30.

Presently 3,000 students are being admitted in IIITs and the Deputy Chief Minister said that the capacity of these institutes would be doubled in the next two years by spending Rs 500 crores on improving infrastructure facilities.
